PhD Survival Tools

May 4, 2020 by lauramccaffrey

Just starting up another term of school. This round, it’s all dissertation, all the time.

Here’s how I get myself to buckle down and focus after a long day of work and family life:

1. Rub some peppermint and lavender essential oils on my hands and inhale deeply

2. Put my earbuds in, and turn up 2 Cellos really loud (like loud enough that I can’t hear you if you’re standing next to me talking)

3. Hold a large chunk of some type of crystal. It’s like my security blanket.

Don’t judge.

That’s my pre-game ritual! It settles me in and gets me ready to get stuff done!
