Be Kind to Yourself

Here’s the truth:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Even though I logically know that being mean to myself doesn’t make change happen any quicker or goals easier to hit, sometimes I still do it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These neural pathways are well worn, I’ve had over 30 years of practice doing it this way. Beating myself up as a way to push harder, produce more, be better.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because my brain is scared that it’s not good enough, that I don’t know enough, that I’m not enough.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And I have produced some amazing results with this method. I’ve also created some really intense cycles of burnout and stress.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But what I also know is the truth is that there’s another way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can be kind to myself and hold space for my humanity AND hit my goals.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve done it. And it feels a hell of a lot better.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can put my hand on my heart, ask myself what I need, and hold space for whatever comes up.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And when I can really see myself as a person and not just a unit of production, that’s when the magic happens.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Creativity flows, goals get blown past, and things feel good.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I’m practicing being kind to myself every single day. Because I know that the other way doesn’t end up working out so well. Because I want more for myself. Because I want my kids to see a different way modeled for them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Black Friday Special! {And a chance to give back}

As many of us socially conscious people do around this time of year, I struggle with how I want to celebrate.

While giving thanks is beautiful, I do not want it to white-wash the immense suffering that colonialism as had on the Indigenous peoples of the Americas.

So in an effort to give thanks AND give back, I’m running a fundraiser today (Black Friday) through Giving Tuesday (December 1).

I’m offering the opportunity to get coached by me one on one in a single coaching session, and I’ll donate 25% of the sales to Chizh for Cheii (Wood for Grandpa), a group of Navajo folks who make sure that their elders have firewood, food, medicine, and other supplies during the winter. The team also drives around and checks in on their elders to make sure they’re ok.

I don’t normally offer single sessions, as I do believe and know that the most profound changes happen in longer term coaching relationships.

But I also know that change can happen in an instant, and it is amazing what can shift in our consciousness in one 60-minute session.

And this offering makes coaching accessible to more folks, and the more people that I can help the better.

We can let a single coaching session be a door opener. The planting of a seed. The spark of magic that can set us off in a whole new direction.

2021 Goal Setting Intensives

I’ve decided to do something super fun for all of the folks who sign up for one on one coaching with me before the end of the year.

We’re going to kick off our three months together with 2021 goal setting intensives.

This year has given us all a lot to think about, and many of us are looking to start with a clean slate and a renewed sense of possibility in 2021. 

And I want to help you do that.

SO! to turbocharge your your goals for next year we’re going to start off our coaching relationship developing your action plan to get you there!

During the first three sessions we’ll talk about all of your goals and dreams as well as the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. Then we’ll develop that action plan.

We’ll talk about what’s held you back or tripped you up that has kept you from achieving your goals, and we’ll develop a plan so that you don’t repeat the past.

And of course, throughout our time together I’ll also teach you how to coach yourself through daily mindset exercises so that you know how to course correct when you drifting off track.

And the beauty of this work is that it doesn’t only apply to the goals we discuss on the calls. Once you learn the mindset tools you can apply them to literally any area of your life to get the results you want.

When you sign up for one on one coaching you’ll get a goal setting workbook to do your pre-planning as well as any additional worksheets for things that come up during the sessions as applicable!

We don’t have to keep repeating the same year over and over again.

Slow Down

What would it be like to slow down?

I’m not talking about taking a break. I’m not talking about resting.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m talking about slowing down the pace of all of it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What else would you notice?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Would you have time to actually think?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To enjoy things?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I work with women who are go-getters. We love to do all the things. And often, we want to do all the things all at the same time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But what I know is that when we are constantly in a rush to get things done, to achieve that next goal, to check one more thing off the list, it can feel like we’re not actually living at all.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We never actually savor the experience.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We never get that sense of satisfaction that we came for.

There’s Nothing Wrong With You

We’re so used to things being hard.

We had to work hard in high school, through college.

We have to work twice as hard at our jobs and be twice as good to be acknowledged.

This is the narrative that was handed to us.

This is what we’ve come to expect and consider normal.

So when we realize that the way we’ve been living isn’t bringing us fulfilment and joy the way that it’s supposed to (this is confusing right! Like what happened…I thought I was supposed to be happy now that I checked all these boxes…) a few things happen:

1. We make it mean that there’s something wrong with us that we couldn’t just make it work.

2. We expect that we’ll just have to keep going, that this is just how it’s going to be.

3. Our expectation is that nothing will change or that it can’t be different might also mean that we don’t seek out help to change it. Or when we’re presented with an alternative path we might not believe that it’ll work (we might not even notice those alternative paths because of confirmation bias).

Here’s what I want to tell you:

1. You are not the problem.

2. You don’t have to keep going like this.

3. Things can be different and you can feel exponentially better.

My coaching methodology combines mindset, intuition, embodiment, and feminist analysis to help you wrangle the Type-A brain and habits that contribute to stress and burnout and cultivate calm confidence (which still allows you to achieve all the things, just minus the after-effects of major hustle).

Are You Living An Endless Groundhog Day?

Here’s how you know if you’re stuck in your own personal groundhog day:

– All of your days look something like
         coffee – work – kids night routine – tv – sleep – repeat
  And you can do all of it pretty much on autopilot.

– You feel like there’s got to be something MORE. Like this can’t be all there is for you.

– You have a list of things you wanted to do, but it never seems like the right time, or you just don’t have the energy to actually do them.
